Phases and Parallels

Solo-exhibition 'Phases and Parallels' at Krognoshuset in Lund, Sweden
2022

Photographer: Stefan Ruissen

Charlotte will be showing a series of sculptures, paintings and a video, all spread over the three levels of this old special brick house. On every level a different atmosphere will be created.

First, you will see paintings from the series ‘Phases and Parallels’, which have a skin-like surface. The depth and flow of the paintings’ surface is almost tangible. It’s as if the paint matter prehends the parallel existences - linked, in fragile dependency, in coexistence. It’s a phase, it can change.

These paintings go in a dialogue with the sculptures on the second floor. The observer will become part of them when moving around and approaching them vis-à-vis. How does the space or space failure feel? Can you respond to the story about vulnerability, which they try to implicitly tell?

Walking down to the dark basement, the only light will come from the screened video on the ceiling. The video consists of many different interacting layers. One of them originates from an animation of a dam burst. The underwater sound and light is enclosing you and it feels as if you are beneath the surface.
